Your Journey to Full Mouth Dental Implants
Step 1Initial Consultation
Our dentists will create a personalised treatment plan for you during your consultation. In this appointment, we will outline the entire process, including the procedure and costs involved, and answer any questions you may have.
Step 2Preparation and Design
This stage focuses on carefully planning your implants and new teeth to suit your individual bite, function, and facial features. It includes X-rays, 3D imaging bone scans (CT), and a wax mock-up of your new teeth for you to try out and approve before treatment begins.
Step 3Implant Procedure
Any remaining teeth on your arch will be removed if required, and your dental implants will be placed. Within 24 to 48 hours, we fit a fixed temporary set of acrylic teeth to restore function while your mouth heals.
Step 4Your Final Restoration
Once your mouth is fully healed and your dental implants have stabilised, we will replace your temporary teeth with your final permanent set made from zirconia.

What Are Full Mouth Dental Implants?
Full mouth dental implants (also referred to as full arch dental implants) are a permanent solution for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth.
Four to six titanium implants are placed in the jawbone to support a full arch of replacement teeth. You can replace your upper arch, lower arch or both with this treatment. Unlike removable dentures, they are fixed permanently in place and cared for like natural teeth.
The Benefits of Full Mouth Dental Implants
Full mouth dental implants may support a range of improvements for suitable patients, including:
- Restored dental function for eating and speaking
- The ability to eat a wider variety of foods for many patients
- Improved speech where missing or failing teeth have affected the way you speak
- Support for the lips and facial structure, which may positively affect overall facial appearance
- A natural-looking result, with replacement teeth designed to complement your existing facial features
- Fixed permanently in place, with no adhesives or removal for cleaning required
- Cared for like natural teeth with regular brushing and dental visits
Individual results vary depending on your circumstances, oral health and adherence to aftercare. View our patient results to see examples of real patient outcomes.
How Do Full Mouth Dental Implants Work?
Because multiple implants are placed across the arch, the load is distributed evenly, allowing for a temporary set of teeth to be fitted within 24 to 48 hours of the procedure. This is different from a single implant, which requires several months of healing before a crown can be placed.
Over time, the implants integrate with the surrounding bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a secure, long-term foundation.
Good gum health is an important factor in implant success. You can learn more about gum health or explore our dental implants for single-tooth options.
Are You a Candidate for Full Mouth Dental Implants?
Full mouth dental implants may be suitable for patients who:
- Have experienced substantial tooth loss or significant decay affecting a full arch of teeth
- Are currently using full arch dentures
- Have lower bone density (Patients with lower bone density may be more suited to full dental implants, rather than a single dental implant)
The best way to find out if this treatment is right for you is to book a consultation with one of our dentists. We welcome patients from Plainland, Grantham, Toowoomba, Helidon and surrounding areas.
