What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and the surrounding gum tissue. They are custom-made to fit your mouth and can replace a few teeth or a full arch, depending on your needs. For many of our patients, they greatly improve their everyday comfort, speech and chewing function.

What Are The Different Types of Dentures?
Full dentures
Full dentures replace all teeth in the upper or lower jaw, or both, and are recommended when all natural teeth are missing or need to be removed.Partial dentures
Partial dentures fill the gaps left by missing teeth and are designed to blend in alongside your existing teeth.Alternatives to Traditional Dentures
We are here to help you find the best solution for your dental health and lifestyle. If dentures don’t meet your needs, explore our fixed dental alternatives:
- Implant Retained Dentures: Implant-retained dentures attach to the top of the dental implant, permanently fixed into your jaw. Your denture stays securely in place without adhesive, providing a natural feel and appearance.
- Dental Bridges: Dental bridges are a permanent solution for those missing some teeth. The replacement teeth are securely attached to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants.
- Full Mouth Implants: Full mouth implants involve permanently fixing your new smile atop four (to six) implants. This solution is ideal for those currently using a full denture and mimics the look and function of natural teeth and gums.
Your dentist or dental prosthetist will assess your individual circumstances and recommend the most appropriate option for your situation.

FAQs About Dentures:
With proper care, dentures typically last 5 to 10 years, though this varies between individuals depending on fit, care, and changes in your jaw over time.
Most patients go through an adjustment period early on. If soreness or discomfort persists, your dental prosthetist can make adjustments.
Results vary between individuals, and likely your healing time is dependent on your oral routines and health considerations.
During a consultation, we’ll discuss realistic expectations for your journey so you’re well informed about the procedure.
It’s generally recommended to remove dentures overnight to allow the gum tissue to rest.
- Remove and rinse after eating
- Brush daily with a soft brush and denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste
- Store in water or denture solution overnight
- Dentures are removable and generally more affordable upfront.
- Dental implants are fixed permanently into the jawbone and may suit patients looking for a stable, long-term solution.
