Why does it matter?
Accreditation for dental practices is voluntary and not required by law. When a clinic like ours undergoes this rigorous process, it demonstrates our commitment to continually improving patient safety and quality care at our own expense and effort.
While all dental practices must adhere to strict standards and regulations, accredited practices undergo ongoing assessments to enhance their procedures. This is why the Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends accreditation for its members.
What does accreditation involve?
Dental practices are required to adhere to the first six National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. After necessary documentation is completed, an independent accreditation agency conducts an assessment and grants accreditation.
During your next dental visit, take note of their accreditation certificate or any accreditation-related posters, and commend the staff for their efforts in undergoing this rigorous process. It has required significant effort on their part, all aimed at enhancing your overall experience!
